Sign Up to Take the PreGISP Exam

The PreGISP certification is a short-term credential that can only be earned once and is a precursor to a GISP. The PreGISP certification expires in three years and cannot be renewed.  It is intended for recent college graduates only and is not available to anyone with significant professional experience.

The GISP-E is for entry-level geospatial professionals only. To qualify for the exam, applicants must be able to answer YES to the first three questions. Falsifying information will disqualify you from the credential and exam fees will be forfeited.

Sign Up

To sign up for the PreGIS Exam, please complete the following steps:

  1. Create an account at GISCI.
  2. Fill out the from below and submit.
  3. Pay Exam Fee: The exam fee should be paid at the time of application. GISCI accepts the following payment methods: MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover Card. You may also choose to be invoiced and pay later either electronically or by check.
  4. Schedule your specific exam date: Within 5 business days of payment being received, you will receive an email authorization to schedule your exam from our exam delivery provider, Pearson VUE. Use the link provided in the email and the Candidate ID number to create an account and schedule your exam date and time.

 

About the PreGIS Exam:

  • The exam requires that you know the GIS areas tested against and not just memorize terms to pass.
  • Measures proficiency in selected geospatial competencies.
  • Is based on the PreGISP Exam Blueprint.
  • Is offered online via proctored Pearson VUE testing only in April & November.
  • Is 2 hours in duration and contains 75 scored questions.
  • Reporting is pass/fail only - you will not be provided with a final score.
  • You will be notified of your Pass/Fail status within 4 weeks.  Your digital certificate will also follow within 4 weeks.
  • Failure to take the exam will result in forfeiture of the Exam Fees.

 

Scheduling:

  • Scheduling is done online through Pearson VUE after authorization by GISCI.
  • Contact GISCI staff immediately at info@gisci.org if you experience testing problems.  Early notification may allow for rescheduing during the current exam period.
  • Rescheduling:  If you cannot attend your scheduled exam, due to extreme circumstances, you must contact info@gisci.org at least 24 hours in advance reschedule within the current testing window.
  • Scheduling Support: If you need assistance scheduling, contact Pearson VUE at (1-888-270-7759) after receiving the scheduling email and creating your account. Do not call this number if you have not received your authorization email.
