GISCI Celebrates 194 Newly Certified GIS Professionals!

Des Plaines, IL (February 26, 2025) – The GIS Certification Institute (GISCI) proudly announces that 194 geospatial professionals have earned their GIS Professional (GISP®) certification following the successful completion of the December 2024 GISCI Geospatial Core Technical Knowledge Exam.

This achievement marks a significant milestone, as candidates not only passed the rigorous exam but also met the full GISP certification requirements—including at least four years of full-time geospatial experience and minimum portfolio qualifications in education, experience, and professional contributions. The remaining individuals that passed the exam will become GISPs when they successfully submit their portfolio.

The December 2024 testing period saw 316 candidates take the exam, with a pass rate of 68%, an increase from the historical average of 63%. In total, 208 individuals successfully passed. The expanded Pearson VUE testing network, with more than 4,500 testing centers in over 175 countries, helped improve access to the exam, allowing candidates from locations such as the United Arab Emirates, Canada, Greece, Colombia, Jamaica, and New Zealand  (and more) to participate.

The GISCI Geospatial Core Technical Knowledge Exam® is offered twice a year, in June and December, assessing expertise across 10 core content areas. The next exam period is from June 7th-15th  - additional details are available on the GISCI website.

Congratulations to all the newly certified GISPs for their dedication to professional excellence in the geospatial industry!
