After a comprehensive national search, the Board of Directors of GISCI is pleased to announce Tony Spicci GISP CGMP as its new Executive Director, effectiveMay 15, 2021.
Martin Roche, GISCI Board President announced, “I am excited, on behalf of the GISCI Board of Directors, to announce the results of our national search for a new Executive Director. Mr. Tony Spicci, GISP CGMP, has a long successful history of leadership in GIS professional associations and public service. He possesses all ofthe qualities we were seeking in an Executive Director: vision, professional experience, technical competence, a strong sense of ethics, and long-term involvement in GIS professional associations. I am certain Tony will professionally and ably lead GISCI as we continue to improve the Institute and our certification processes.”
Tony most recently served as Science Support Supervisor with the Missouri Department of Conservation, where he has worked since November 1992. In this position, he has supervised the GIS, Human Dimensions, Technology Support, and Ecological Classification Systems programs at MDC. He has also been the Site Administrator for the Columbia Regional Office / Columbia Research Center.
Tony has had extensive experience in service with the MidAmerica GIS Consortium and has long been involved with NSGIC, one of GISCI’s Member Organizations.
The Board of Directors conducted a thorough search process led by The Moran Company. Based in Kansas City, The Moran Company specializes in recruiting top leadership positions for nonprofit organizations across the nation.
The board is deeply grateful for the support of Bill Hodgethroughout the search process as the Retiring Executive Director. Bill has provided tremendous leadership, energy, and enthusiasmas the Executive Director for the last 8 years, and before that, as a GISCI board and committee member.
