The GISCI Application for GIS Professional Certification

How Straightforward is the Application Process?

According to submitted demographic questionnaires:

  • 97.6% said that the application process was “Very Clear” or “Clear”

The GISCI certification application is available in .pdf form and in two different formats:

Option I: Manual Entry
The applicant will print off the documents and complete the necessary sections using ink. NOTE: Applicants must download all 4 documents.

NOTE: All materials must be sent in one application packet. GISCI will dispose of materials (transcripts, letter from an employer, etc.) received separately. All application packets must be complete and in order to be considered.

Option II: Electronic Entry (Form Fields)

The applicant will complete the application format as a .pdf document containing form fields. This allows the applicant to type responses directly into the fields.

The applicant should save the application to their desktop before entering information by highlighting the link and selecting "SAVE TARGET AS". The file may be saved during completion and worked on at a later date only if you have the full version of Adobe Acrobat (Version 5.0 or higher - standard or professional). Adobe Acrobat Reader will not allow the entered data to be saved. This feature is deliberately put into Acrobat Reader by Adobe.

Upon completion the document should be printed out and mailed to GISCI headquarters along with the proper supporting documentation and materials. GISCI does not accept electronic submissions of any of the forms.

NOTE: Applicants must download all 4 documents.

Supervisor Letter Template

The following letter can be used for fulfilling the letter from an immediate supervisor documentation requirement. The original copy of the letter should be included in the application packet. Please do not send additional or a duplicate copies. Please do not have the supervisor send the letter directly. Letters that do not accompany packets will not be considered. Remember that this letter should come from your most current immediate supervisor. Applicants do not need letters from past supervisors.
